Sand Sculpture WA is owned and run by the principal sculptor, Tim Darby.

When he was in Grade 1 Tim drew a picture of a witch’s cat in a storm. His teacher had it framed and hung in the staff room. Tim has been making art ever since.

He has worked in steel, leather, paint, clay, stone (and so on) but particular enjoys making sculptures.

His work tends to be quirky and humorous and appeals to a wide audience.

The participative side of Sand Sculpture WA is the domain of Shani Graham. With 25 years as a professional educator, Shani often works in tandem with Tim providing engaging and easy to follow instructions for aspiring sand sculpturors young and/or young at heart.

Shani is particularly good at turning the construction of sculptures at the close of events into a celebration for event organisers and volunteers.
